The issue of education of Muslim girls in the era of Islamophobia
A college in Karnataka is in the headlines these days for banning the hijab. But the truth is that for a long time Indian Muslims have been falsely and baselessly accused of not giving Muslim girls the opportunity to get a modern education because the Islamic faith itself would stand in the way. Is. What an injustice it is for Islam to accuse a religion that has given priority to education even before addressing issues of faith and belief. By the way, it is the belief of Muslims that prevents Muslim girls from getting modern education. The "enlightened" leaders also accepted this imperialist ideology and became the bearers of the same thought. He began to believe that it was the belief of Muslims that prevented Muslim girls from being equipped with modern education. These "enlightened" leaders of ours have never felt the need to take an objective look at their thinking and dispel this illusion by showing realism. This issue has been continuously promoted by the media as a result of which the Muslim girls are paying a heavy price today. Today, when Muslim girls are entering government and non-government institutions of modern education and proving their ability and dedication, they are being harassed in every possible way. The greatest example of this can be seen in the Adupi district of Karnataka, where Muslim girls are fighting for their basic rights at Adupi College. They are being discriminated against and discriminated against only because they want to continue their modern education with the exception of the whole Islamic identity. Adupi College has banned Muslim girls from wearing hijab in class. This action by the college administration clearly shows the fact that the accusation against Islam was baseless and foolish as it hinders its followers from equipping them with modern education. While the truth is that Muslim girls are being pressured and trying to stop them from practicing their religion and faith. In addition, their educational development is being hampered and they are being deprived of opportunities for intellectual development. Their only fault is that they, like all other sections of the country, want to set the stage for education and development while respecting their culture. On the contrary, Adopi College is forcing them to give up their faith if they want to succeed in life like other female students and play their role in the development of the country. The same motive seems to be behind the imposition of Syria salutations on students in different schools of the country. Obviously, doing so falls into the category of blatant violation of the Constitution of India as our Constitution allows every citizen to practice his religion freely. So why this unjust ban?
The statements of Muslim students of Adupi College show that their teachers are not allowing them to sit in class just because they want to wear hijab and sit in class. According to a student named Almas, her teacher had explicitly told her that she would not be allowed to sit in the classroom until she had taken off her hijab. Six Muslim female students of the college are protesting on the issue of hijab and are being forced to sit outside their classrooms. Obviously, this will have a negative effect on their annual attendance record, which may result in them being deprived of the opportunity to sit for the exam. This is tantamount to toying with his career. Hopefully, Muslim students are hopeful of regaining their rights. He said that the college administration has to give up its stubbornness as wearing hijab is part of its creed and the constitution of India provides protection in this regard and therefore it cannot be compromised. On the contrary, the college administration says that we cannot allow the wearing of hijab because it is not part of the college uniform. College head Rudra Gowda has stated in the media that he cannot allow students to wear hijab as it is not part of the uniform. According to him, in this regard, they are following the instructions of the Ministry of Education.
The truth of the matter is that since the Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the state of Karnataka, it has been constantly attacking the religious, educational and cultural rights of minorities. Whether it is a matter of legislation against conversion or banning the hijab of Muslim female students in government colleges, it has become a common practice everywhere to enforce the Hindutva agenda by force. In the same college, a few days ago, members of All India Vidyarthi Parishad have shown their pluralistic mentality against wearing saffron handkerchiefs and wearing hijab by Muslim girls. The college administration should have played a positive role in this regard but it did not happen. College administrations need to understand that educational institutions are not centers for spreading narrow-mindedness but are a means of fostering thought and vision in a free and fearless environment. Adopi College also has a moral obligation to take care of the religious sensitivities of its students and to lift the ban on hijab. This disease of Islamophobia has come from the West in India. There has never been such narrow-mindedness in Indian civilization. The college administration should safeguard the enlightened history of Indian civilization in which discrimination on the basis of religion has been considered a vice and hence the importance of 'Sarva Dharma Sambhao' has been given here. This will be the proof of true love for the country.
